1993

I'm nearly fourteen years late starting this blog.
You see, I started building my latest project sometime in 1993 when I sold my GT40 replica and vowed to create a hot rod that would kick it's ass around Goodwood Motor Circuit near Chichester. And the GT40 was pretty quick around there, probably bolstered by the fact that I was a) young and therefore reckless and b) richer (no kids for one thing!).
But that was a long time ago now. And, in a different country - in 1998 I moved to Atlanta, Georgia in the U.S.A. with two new children and another on the way. As you can imagine, this change of circumstances put a dent in my project time.
And then we moved to a house without a garage.
So my poor project somehow became one of those sad under-the-tarp projects that usually fade away over decades until they are sold to someone who had pestered you every month. And I became one of those "ex-car guys" that talked the talk and had nothing parked outside to back it up. A sad bastard reflection of my younger self :)
But against all odds, I'm back. My project is back, albeit in a much modified state as you'll soon see. I've been working on the project again for a few months now - most of that time getting to grips with my changed ideas of what I want. Yes, selling bits I don't want to finance a few more less-than-shiny bits as I can get away with.
I'll tell you now that I told my friends that the car would drive to a local Summit Racing Monday night get-together "this summer" (2007). They occur every Monday until October, so summer for me runs all the way until October this year.
If you've built a car, you'll know that telling people your idea of a deadline is pretty dumb. Shit happens, especially when you're on your own with a small pile of raw parts and an awful lot missing.
But first let's go back to the beginning..
